Have you always wondered why a specific dance is danced the way it is? The story is always in the sounds and songs - literally. Demystify the sacred and melodic tongue of Haitian folkloric singing and the meaning behind it with Manbo (Vodou priestess) and singer Florencia “Fofo” Pierre.

About the Event

This recurring event is for Saturday virtual classes from 1:00pm - 2:00pm covering both Haitian Vodou songs and culture.

For Thursday virtual classes from 4:30pm - 5:30pm focusing on Haitian folkloric songs, please see our event calendar.

No experience required; songs will be taught in Kreyol/Haitian Creole, so bring pen and paper, your voice, and intelletual curiosity!

Cost: $10-$20 sliding scale per class.

Email with payment info will be sent after preregistration via the "RSVP" button; once payment is complete, participants will receive a confirmation email with Zoom link and access to relevant course material on Google Drive.
